This is a common concern that pops up in our chair, especially when it’s your first time or you’ve had a less-than-stellar cosmetic treatment in the past! We’re here to tell you that cosmetic treatments, when done tastefully, are undetectable. The purpose is to compliment your already existing features and not to change the unique features that make you, you.
Regardless of prior experience with medical aesthetics, age or skin type, you still have the potential to love the way you look. We want you to feel taken care of. Subtle Enhancements is a nurse-led cosmetic and wellness clinic. As nursing professionals, we answer to a regulatory body, the College of Nurses. This means as nurses we must meet specific requirements to practice in Ontario. As a nursing professional, we must uphold high standards and always have the client’s best interest at heart.

We won’t surprise you with any hidden fees and we won’t provide a treatment that we don’t feel is best for you. If we can’t do it, or we know someone who specializes in this particular treatment, we’ll refer you to them. That’s our promise to you.

Meet Our Medical and Beauty Team
Hilary is the founder and lead nurse injector at Subtle Enhancements. Hilary began her nursing career after she graduated from Fleming College in 2017 with a diploma in practical nursing. She began working at a hospital on a medical/surgical unit while she pursued cosmetic nursing. In 2019, she went back to school to pursue her bachelor of science in nursing degree and graduated in 2022. Her hopes are to pursue her masters/nurse practitioner in a couple of years! Through the pandemic, she worked as a street nurse in Toronto serving folks that were experiencing homelessness. This was one of her favourite areas to work in apart from medical aesthetics!

Completely unrelated to nursing, Hilary pursued firefighting and achieved her Ontario Fire Marshall Seal in 2021! Relating to medical aesthetics, in 2018 Hilary graduated with a certificate in botulinum toxin and dermal fillers from Ontario Medical Aesthetics. Following that, she mentored one-on-one with an experienced nurse practitioner to hone her skills for 6 months. She went on to work at several well known Toronto medical spas while building Subtle Enhancements. Over the years she’s pursued advanced courses for medical aesthetics and holds certifications for deoxycholic acid, advanced lip filler, facial harmonization (8-point lift) with Erika Barry (@injectorbunny), specialized anatomy courses, sclerotherapy, multiple Sculptra courses, Radiesse and many more!
Hilary is a complete animal lover and prior to nursing, worked with animals for a decade. Her true passion is helping rescue animals and has been a foster dog parent for many years. She’s even got 3 rescue pets of her own! When Hilary isn’t at work, you can find her always learning something new, cuddling with her pets, traveling the world, or doing absolutely nothing on the couch (who doesn’t love this?!).

Arlena is the head nurse at our Subtle Enhancements Brooklin location. She met Hilary back in nursing school, and they instantly connected. When Arlena isn’t working hard to make ya’ll beautiful, she loves to enjoy the outdoors, finding joy in every season—whether it’s enjoying sunny summer days biking and taking her little ones to the beach (sandcastles, anyone?), or making the most of winter months going skating or enjoying a winter hike. Arlena takes pride in being a mom of 2 little ladies, she tries to balance her professional life with family adventures, and she plans to teach her little girls the importance of self-care and confidence (start ‘em young!). Arlena always strives to make her clients feel their best, while she is a skilled cosmetic nurse, she’s also a really passionate advocate for self-love and empowerment through beauty - because when you look your best, you feel your best!

Meet Claudia, the newest star on our nursing team! A 2020 graduate from Toronto Metropolitan University with a BSc in Nursing and a minor in psychology, Claudia has always had a love for all things beauty. Discovering aesthetic nursing was a dream come true, combining her passions for care and beauty in the best way. Claudia may be a familiar face as she completed her extensive one-on-one training with nurse Hilary here at Subtle Enhancements - so you know you’re in good hands! Claudia continues to upgrade her skills by taking accredited aesthetic nursing courses, such as lip filler, Botox and Dysport.
Claudia has been dubbed our in-house expert on all things acne, as she’s personally struggled with the issues and knows how challenging it can be! She holds multiple certifications in the treatment of acne and acne scarring such as Syfirm X, SkinBoosters, Microneedling and Exosomes - so if this is something you can relate with - then she’s the gal to see!

Jennie is our medical director, who oversees all of our medical treatments here at Subtle Enhancements. She’s a nurse practitioner that has an extended scope of practice which means she can prescribe, diagnose, order, and interpret tests. Pretty cool, right? She’s one smart cookie and she’s our go-to for any advanced medical questions, our sounding board, a good friend, and always available in the event of an injection emergency!

Jennifer is a masters-educated primary health care nurse practitioner celebrating over 11 years as a nursing professional. Jennie is a University of Western alumni, where she graduated with her BScN and then her Masters of Nursing and RN (EC) from the University of Toronto in 2015. Jennie completed her own aesthetic training and certification through The Canadian Association of Medical Aesthetics and has gone on to pursue many advanced injection certifications. Jennifer has a passion for complication management and safety in aesthetics. At Subtle Enhancements, safety is our top priority, hence why Jennie fit into our team so seamlessly.
She’s the founder of Real Beauty Rx, an aesthetic clinic located in Brantford, Ontario (check out her instagram @realbeauty.rx). Jennifer is also a busy mom to her 4 year old son, and maintains her position as an NP in family practice. Jennie is super active, and loves a good bike ride with her hubby. Talk about a go-getter!

Jacky is a true Torontonian, born and raised in the beautiful and vibrant Greek Town, and for the last decade she’s resided in our beloved Parkdale with her fiancé, 2 dogs and 2 cats. Jacky is a bit of a Jack-of-all-trades, she’s worked in veterinary medicine (where she and Hilary met!), human medicine, has her certification in Firefighting (also with Hilary..), and worked as a 911 dispatcher.

Lori remains quite active these days as fitness and taking care of herself are a priority. She is a new resident to Port Credit and along with Hilary’s dad Wayne, they are spending their time exploring their new neighbourhood.

Isabella has been part of Subtle Enhancements since 2023, the first employee at the brick-and-mortar! A natural fit combining her passion for patient care with her love for research-backed skincare products. The coordinator you all know and love originates from Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and made the bit trek to Toronto five years ago to pursue a double major in Human Biology and Physiology, with a minor in Immunology, at the U of T, and is currently pursuing a new path in Law with the end-goal of working in Medical Law!

Isabella’s a true go-getter! During university, she was VP of two charities—Canadian Feed the Children and Her Voice—focused on food security, education, and raising awareness about domestic violence. She also volunteered at the Kensington Eye Clinic and published two scientific papers. Now at Subtle Enhancements, Isabella brings her research skills to life, helping clients find skincare solutions that truly work for them - if you’ve met Isabella at the clinic you know how hard she works to bring you the best care possible!
In her downtime, she enjoys going on hikes with her rescue dog Mellark, exploring Toronto’s food scene, and perfecting her skincare routine. While she’s not a big sweets fan, Mare’s Bakeshop is her weakness - the carrot cake is to die for!
